Spring invites fresh creativity and new beginnings. If you have a collection of watercolor paintings that no longer feel complete or inspiring on their own, you can breathe new life into them by transforming these pieces into whimsical collage art. I have been actively exploring this approach with my collection of "oops" paintings. I am not only recycling my old artwork but also opening a path to imaginative, nature-inspired abstract creations. I have taught a few of these workshops in the past year and I will be teaching again this spring. I will guide you through the process of turning up cycled watercolor paintings into unique collages that celebrate the beauty of imperfection and the charm of recycled materials.

Why Choose Upcycled Watercolors for Collage Art

Watercolor paintings often have delicate washes of color and organic textures that lend themselves beautifully to collage. Instead of discarding old or incomplete paintings, reimagine them into collage materials:

  • Reduces waste by reusing materials that might otherwise be thrown away.

  • Adds depth and texture to your new artwork through layered paper.

  • Encourages experimentation with shapes, colors, and composition.

  • Connects you with nature by using abstract forms inspired by natural elements like leaves, water, and sky.
